Mr. Vitthal
Gaikwad, 65 of Ambap, Taluka Hatkanangle, underwent successful cataract surgery
at Siddhagiri Hospital on Thursday 22nd December, 2011. He had been suffering
from kidney problems for the last two years. His hands, feet and face were swollen
and he had difficulty urinating so he had to start dialysis treatment. He had
been blind for four months, so he was referred to an ophthalmologist elsewhere
for cataracts. Ophthalmologists say that there is no guarantee that eyes will
be able to see even after surgery. After that the patient Mr. Gaikwad was
admitted to the Siddhagiri hospital. After the examination, the ophthalmologist
decided to perform the surgery. Anesthesia and surgery are extremely
complicated as dialysis treatment is ongoing. On the second day after the
surgery, the patient's eyesight was checked and he became clear and clean. Dr.
Rahul Fase, Dr. Nitin Kesarkar and Assistant Megha Patil of Ophthalmology
Department performed the surgery.
