Mrs. Kamal Prakash Porlekar, 65 years old, a resident of Kurundwad Taluka, Shirol, has undergone a successful operation under the Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayi Arogya Yojana by Dr. Shivshankar Marjakke, a Neuro Surgeon of the hospital. She had been suffering from headaches and deafness for the last five years. She underwent a head scan at Jaisingpur, where she was diagnosed with a large tumor in her small brain. She was admitted to Siddhagiri Hospital for further treatment. The doctor saved the lives of these patient by performing surgery with the help of modern technology and binoculars for ten hours in a row. It is usually expected to cost Rs 2 to 3 lakhs to perform such surgery, but the surgery was performed free of cost at Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayi Arogya Yojana at Siddhagiri Hospital.
